APPLE New iPad

Apple CEO Tim Cook launched the Apple New iPad in San Francisco, Wednesday, March 7, 2012. The New iPad features a sharper screen and a faster processor. According to Apple the new display will be even sharper than the high-definition television. Apple has described the New iPad’s display “Revolutionary”, since it has highest screen resolution we’ve ever seen on a tablet.

The New iPad is a 9.7″ form factor tablet with 2048×1536 pixels display, a 5-MP iSight rear camera and a combo radio that has 4G LTE and HSPA+ connectivity, along with many other basebands.

DIMENSIONS

The New iPad is not much thicker than the iPad 2 at 9.4mm, with 0.64kg mass. So, it’s not much of a difference, as the two iPads are similar in terms of design.

RETINA DISPLAY

The biggest deal on the New iPad is about the screen. It shows off a 264ppi pixel density compared to 326ppi on the last two iPhones.

It has 4 times the pixels of iPad 2, and hence better resolution (2048 x 1536) , 40% more colour saturation, which means richer details, and therefore producing amazingly sharp images, pictures,graphics and text quality, better picture density and quality than a 1080P HDTV. Photos look more realistic.

The new iPad has enhanced graphics to play games. You can create interesting new 3d charts and animations using the iWork app. You can also play musical instruments using the GarageBand app in your ipad. Movies, movie actors and trailers can be created using the iMovie app. Apple also installed iPhoto app for the first time on the iPad, and so you can do multi-touch editing, and so on.

So, obviously graphics and text will look and display more elegantly than it’s predecessor, the iPad 2. The new iPad has 3.1 million pixels, which is greater than a 1080p HDTV by one million.

VOICE DICTATION

Even though the new iPad doesn’t have Siri, it comes with voice dictation. Touching a small microphone icon on the software keyboard will bring up the voice dictation.

You can talk to your iPad using Voice Dictation, which is used to translate voice into text.

A5X CHIP

A5X Chip makes the New iPad a graphics powerhouse, about 2 times that of iPad 2. Offering quad-core graphics capabilities, Apple mentioned that the A5X performs four times better than the NVIDIA Tegra 3 mobile GPU.

5MP ISIGHT CAMERA

The new 5MP iSight rear camera module has the same resolution on the iPhone 4 and 4S, but it has better camera quality than the iPad 2. The 5 MP iSight Camera is located at the back, and has backside illumination (BSI), 5-element lens, hybrid IR filter, Apple-designed ISP, 1080p video. The new iPad has same camera features as the iphone 4s, having auto face detection, exposure and focus lock and wide balance.

The new iPad has the ability to capture Full HD 1080p video, as it contains 30 frames per second dual-core chip. Many editing techniques are made possible by the high resolution display capability and powerful graphics to run better iMovie and iPhoto applications.

4G LTE Support

Fantastic news for at least US Apple fans, The new iPad offers 4G LTE super-fast mobile broadband support. According to Apple, no other mobile device can support as many basebands as Apple’s new iPad with the baseband radio feature. Apple have already confirmed US carriers such as AT&T and Verizon in the US.

The fifth generation chip supplies the widest baseband radio support in industry, as it supports TD-SCDMA, TD-LTE, LTE on FDD and TDD networks all over the world and embedded GPS capability, plus 21Mbps HSPA+, 42Mbps DC-HSDPA and EV-DO.

With next generation wireless technology such as 3G HSPA+ and 4G LTE connectivity, one can enjoy quicker internet browsing, downloading, video streaming and emailing.

BATTERY

The New iPad carries a Built-in 42.5-watt-hour rechargeable lithium-polymer battery, so one can spend up to 10 hours of surfing the web on Wi-Fi, watching video, or listening to music, similar to the iPad 2.
